The venue for the Beep Painting Prize exhibition will be once again be in the heart of the city, this time on Swansea's High Street at the new elysium gallery and its next door neighbour Liquid Gallery with additional offsite painting led exhibitions & activities at various locations across the city and South Wales. elysium gallery, 210 High Street, Swansea, SA1 1PE elysium gallery was established in 2007 and its current High St venue in Swansea City Centre has been the gallery home since 2019. The team behind elysium gallery are the organisers of the Beep Painting Prize and are dedicated to providing a platform for national artists whilst bringing International events to the city. elysium gallery is not for profit, artist led social enterprise. This year elysium gallery will host the main Beep Painting Prize exhibition which will also spread next door to 211 High Street. www.elysiumgallery.com College Street Gallery, 16 College Street, Swansea, SA1 5HB Situated in the basement of a former nightclub in the city centre, this was the home of elysium gallery from 2013-2019. Consists of 13 artist studios and the gallery exhibition space. This year College St Gallery will host Contemporary British Painting. ‘Contemporary British Painting’ is an artist led organisation which explores and promotes current trends in British painting through group exhibitions, talks, publications and the donation of paintings to art museums. www.contemporarybritishpainting.com Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Alexandra Rd, Swansea, SA1 5DZ Founded in 1911 by the original bequest of Richard Glynn Vivian (1835-1910), the gallery belongs to the City and County of Swansea, and is Wales only purpose built gallery. Re-opened in 2016 after a £6 million overhaul the gallery has shown a wide range of contemporary and classical exhibitions such as Leonardo Da Vinci, LS Lowry, Shimabuku, Mark Wallinger, Laura Ford & Bedwyr Williams. Housed in a Grade II listed building in Swansea’s Maritime Quarter, Mission Gallery began its existence in 1977 as a voluntary artist run body and has since developed a national and international reputation for presenting dynamic and distinctive programming.For Beep 2020, the Mission Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Casper White. www.missiongallery.co.uk Swansea Museum, Victoria Road, Swansea, SA1 1SN Swansea Museum is the oldest museum in Wales, and a fascinating treasure house of Swansea’s past history. The collections contain all kinds of objects from the past of Swansea, Wales and the rest of the world. Swansea Museum is also home to its large exhibitions space, which for Beep 2020 will host 'Walking in Two Worlds', an abstract painting exhibition featuring 20 artists centered around the mysterious life of the influential Dutch-French painter Hetty Van Kooten (1908 - 1952). www.swanseamuseum.co.uk GS Artists, 217 High St, Swansea, SA1 1NX GS Artists (formerly Galerie Simpson) was founded by artist Jane Simpson. A contemporary gallery space situated on Swansea High Street and has been home to exhibitions featuring Sir Peter Blake, Gavin Turk, Clare Woods, Gary Hume & Jamie Read. For Beep 2018, Galerie Simpson presented an exhibition featuring Angela De La Cruz, Sarah Pickstone, Stephen Snoddy, Anne Ryan & Andreas Ruethi. Beep 2020 activities TBA soon. www.museum.wales/swansea The Black Raven Gallery,Newton House, Dinefwr Park, Carmarthenshire The Black Raven Gallery is based at Newton House which is a Grade II* listed country house situated just to the west of the market town of Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is partially owned and maintained by the National Trust and lies within Dinefwr Park and the grounds of Dinefwr Castle. The Black Raven Gallery will host 'Memory into Landscape' an exhibition organised by Elysium Gallery in Swansea. We comprise two shop units; Campfa is an exhibition space with a year-long programme of contemporary solo and group exhibitions. Arcade is an experimental project space where they act as host for exhibitions, workshops, talks and events.
