Beep. Where the money goes...
In 2012 artists were invited to submit paintings on the theme of ‘Through tomorrow’s eyes’.
The submission fee was £15 per artist. This generated £1350 income. This covered the £500 prize winner and the rent of Volcano theatre space for the exhibition. Elysium gallery covered the set-up, marketing, website and invigilation costs whilst Mission Gallery, Swansea sponsored the £100 people’s prize. Volunteers invigilated the exhibition.
In 2014 artists were invited to submit paintings on the theme of ‘A Portrait of the Artist as…’
The submission fee was £15 per artist and this generated £1275 income. This covered the £800 prize money and covered the materials needed to buy materials, build display walls and set up the exhibition. The venue was provided for free by Coastal housing.
Additional funding was acquired through the Dylan Thomas100 fund through Swansea County Council & Arts council Wales. This covered all marketing costs. Mission Gallery again sponsored the £200 people’s prize and provided the Beep children’s painting exhibition venue.
